    • Mr. Kim focuses on representing and advising investors in shareholder, securities, finance, and corporate governance related litigations. Raising awareness of investment fraud schemes and other compliance issues of financial institutions, Mr. Kim is known for handling some of the most challenging, high-stakes securities litigations. He successfully led the LG stockholders’ derivative action, ELS (Equity Linked Securities) closing price manipulation lawsuit, Daewoo accounting fraud lawsuit, Hyundai Securities’ stockholder’s derivative lawsuit, Woori Power Income Fund lawsuit and contributed to the application of class action suit system in Korea by showing examples of its efficacy. Mr. Kim defends and advises clients in matters throughout civil, criminal and administrative issues through his extensive experience and deep history in consultation.
      Prior to founding Hannuri Law, he started his career in Kim & Chang in 1992, concentrating on fair trade and corporate advising. Recipient of Fulbright scholarship, he studied in Chicago University Law School and had legal experience in Williams & Woolley, located in California. After his study abroad, Mr. Kim successfully led the Miral School construction suit and won the case which expedited many establishments of handicap facilities. In 1997, he opened his law office with his father Kim Sang-won and his brother Kim Joo-hyun, and also, served as a Vice Chairman of Economic Reform Committee at the Peoples’ Solidarity for Participatory Democracy and as an Executive Director of Center for Good Corporate Governance.
      Having faith in the power of truth, Mr. Kim believes that his clients can achieve the best results by boldly seeking it and he finds joy in discovering the truth by rigorous study and analyzation. Mr. Kim is also a frequent speaker on securities fraud and internal investigations to professional organizations and other academic conferences. And he authored books based on his lively experiences as a high-profile mass tort litigation lawyer.
      Mr. Kim received his LL.B. from Seoul National University, passed the Korean Bar in 1986, and finished courses at the Judicial Research & Training Center in 1989.
